Course Overview:

          It covers topics like tourism destinations, travel planning, customer service, and airline ticketing, preparing graduates for roles such as travel agent, tour guide, or hotel manager. The duration of these programs can range from six months to two years.       

Course responsibilities:-

Client and customer service

  • Assist clients with travel arrangements, including booking flights, accommodations, and car rentals.
  • Provide customer support, answer queries, and build customer loyalty.
  • Create and customize itineraries based on client needs and budget. 

Tour operations and management

  • Design, plan, and organize tour packages for individuals or groups.
  • Coordinate with hotels, transport providers, and tour guides to ensure seamless logistics.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of a tour to ensure a positive experience for travelers. 

Marketing and promotion

  • Promote specific destinations, services, and tour packages through marketing campaigns.
  • Develop and manage social media and advertising strategies.
  • Collaborate with tourism boards and local businesses to attract visitors. 

Event planning and management

  • Plan and coordinate events like conferences, exhibitions, and festivals.
  • Manage all aspects of an event, from conceptualization and budgeting to logistics and vendor coordination.
  • Ensure safety and legal regulations are followed during events. 

Hospitality and administration

  • Oversee daily operations of hotels, resorts, or other hospitality establishments.
  • Manage staff, coordinate services, and ensure high standards of guest satisfaction.
  • Handle administrative tasks, such as preparing work schedules and managing supplies.

  • Tourism Fundamentals: History, nature, importance, and impact of tourism on society, culture, and the environment.
  • Geography of Tourism: World and national tourism geography, major tourist destinations, and the role of natural resources like mountains, beaches, and wildlife sanctuaries.
  • Travel Trade and Operations: How travel agencies and tour operators function, including tour planning, itinerary creation, and managing bookings.
  • Hospitality: Principles of hospitality management and the structure of hotel departments like front office, housekeeping, and food and beverage. 

Practical and technical skills

  • Airfare and Ticketing: International air ticketing rules, fare structures, and using airline reservation systems like Amadeus or Galileo.
  • Customer Service: Principles of customer service and professional conduct for travel professionals.
  • Documentation and Visa Procedures: Handling travel documents and the process for obtaining visas.
  • Communication: Professional writing, business English, and personality development to enhance public speaking and leadership skills. 

Industry and management

  • Marketing: Airline and tourism marketing strategies and principles.
  • Management Principles: Basic principles of management, project management, and entrepreneurship.
  • Sustainable and Cultural Tourism: Focusing on the development of sustainable tourism practices and the significance of cultural tourism. 

Experiential learning

  • Field Studies and Tours: Practical experience through guided tours and field visits.
  • Industrial Training: Hands-on training in a travel or tourism-related company.
  • Project Work: Developing and presenting project reports based on industry research
  •  Job opportunities:  Entry-level  Roles including travel agent, tour operator, hotel manager, and event coordinator.
