Course Overview:
Electrical assistant duties include assisting licensed electricians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, which involves tasks like measuring and cutting wires, pulling wire through conduits, and preparing tools and materials. They also perform basic electrical tests, help with troubleshooting, and ensure work areas are clean and safe.
Course responsibilities:-
- Assist with installation: Help in installing new electrical systems, wiring, and components like circuit breakers, switches, and motors.
- Support maintenance and repair: Assist in troubleshooting electrical issues and performing repairs on existing systems and equipment.
- Perform electrical testing: Use tools like multimeters and meggers to test the continuity and proper functioning of circuits and equipment.
- Safety and compliance: Follow all safety procedures, wear appropriate protective equipment, and ensure the work area is clean and organized to prevent accidents.
- Material and tool management: Prepare job sites by gathering necessary tools and materials, maintain tools, and manage inventory.
- Documentation: Keep records of installation and repair work.
Additional tasks
- Site preparation: Dig trenches for conduit, erect scaffolds, and rig hoists.
- Component assembly: Assemble electrical components such as panels and controllers.
- Cable and conduit work: Pull wires through conduit and install lighting and power circuits.
- Physical labor: Perform physically demanding tasks, including working in tight spaces or at heights, and lifting heavy equipment.

- Basic Electrical Principles: Fundamentals of voltage, current, resistance, power, Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's laws, and AC/DC circuits.
