Course Overview:

       Electrical assistant duties include assisting licensed electricians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, which involves tasks like measuring and cutting wires, pulling wire through conduits, and preparing tools and materials. They also perform basic electrical tests, help with troubleshooting, and ensure work areas are clean and safe.

Course responsibilities:-

• Assist with installation: Help in installing new electrical systems, wiring, and components like circuit breakers, switches, and motors.
• Support maintenance and repair: Assist in troubleshooting electrical issues and performing repairs on existing systems and equipment.
• Perform electrical testing: Use tools like multimeters and meggers to test the continuity and proper functioning of circuits and equipment.
• Safety and compliance: Follow all safety procedures, wear appropriate protective equipment, and ensure the work area is clean and organized to prevent accidents.
• Material and tool management: Prepare job sites by gathering necessary tools and materials, maintain tools, and manage inventory.
• Documentation: Keep records of installation and repair work. 

Additional tasks

• Site preparation: Dig trenches for conduit, erect scaffolds, and rig hoists.
• Component assembly: Assemble electrical components such as panels and controllers.
• Cable and conduit work: Pull wires through conduit and install lighting and power circuits.
• Physical labor: Perform physically demanding tasks, including working in tight spaces or at heights, and lifting heavy equipment.

Course Curriculum Components:

Theoretical Knowledge

• Basic Electrical Principles: Fundamentals of voltage, current, resistance, power, Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's laws, and AC/DC circuits.
• Electrical Codes and Regulations: Study of national and local electrical codes to ensure compliance and safety.
• Electrical Machines: Basic introduction to the working principles of transformers, motors, and generators.
• Power Systems: Overview of electrical power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
• Measuring Instruments: Theory and use of various instruments like multimeters, ammeters, voltmeters, meggers, and earth testers.
• Engineering Drawing/Schematics: Learning to read and interpret technical diagrams and layouts for electrical systems. 

Practical Skills and Workshop Practice

• Safety Training: Extensive training on workplace safety rules, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and first aid for electrical shocks.
• Tool Usage: Hands-on practice with hand tools (pliers, screwdrivers, wire strippers, etc.) and power tools (drilling machines, cutting machines).
• Wiring and Installation: Practical exercises in various wiring systems (e.g., domestic, industrial), including the installation of switches, sockets, circuit breakers, and distribution boards.
• Earthing/Grounding: Procedures for setting up safe and effective earthing systems.
• Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Techniques for diagnosing faults and performing repairs on wiring, motors, and other electrical components.
• Temporary Installations: Skills needed to set up and maintain temporary lighting and power panels at construction sites. 

Employability and Soft Skills

• Communication Skills: Basic communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and client interaction.
• Workplace Ethics: Understanding professional practices, teamwork, and planning/organizing work activities. 
• Job Opportunities: Maintenance, installation, and repair across various sectors like manufacturing, commercial buildings, and power generation, with specific job titles including  Electrician, Electrical Technician, Electrical Supervisor, and Site Supervisor. 

Features of the Course :
