Course Overview:
These programs cover essential skills like nail anatomy, sanitation, product knowledge, and advanced techniques like extensions and design. Graduates can pursue careers in salons, spas, or by starting their own businesses.
Course Responsibilities:-
Client services
- Provide manicures and pedicures, including cleaning, shaping, buffing, and polishing nails.
- Apply nail enhancements such as acrylics, gels, and dip powder.
- Create and apply intricate nail art and designs based on client requests.
- Offer relaxing hand and foot massages and other treatments, like paraffin wax.
- Remove old polish and artificial nails.
Hygiene and safety
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace by sanitizing tools and workstations before and after each client.
- Follow local health and safety regulations and guidelines.
- Observe clients' nails for any signs of infectious diseases or other health concerns.
Client consultation and care
- Consult with clients to understand their needs and preferences for services.
- Advise clients on proper nail care techniques and recommend products to maintain nail health.
- Answer client questions and address any concerns or complaints.
Salon management and business
- Schedule appointments for clients.
- Process payments and handle cash or card transactions.
- Manage inventory and restock supplies, such as nail polish.
- Assist with maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the salon.
Course Curriculum components:
Foundational Knowledge
- Hygiene, Health, and Safety: This is a critical component, covering salon safety regulations, infection control, sanitation, and sterilizing equipment to ensure a safe environment for both technicians and clients.
- Anatomy and Physiology: Students learn the detailed structure and growth of the natural nail, skin, bones, and muscles of the hands and feet to perform services safely and effectively.
- Nail Diseases and Disorders: Training on identifying common, non-medical nail conditions and knowing which conditions are contra-indicated for treatment (requiring referral to a medical professional).
- Product Knowledge and Chemistry: Understanding the chemical composition, proper handling, and storage of various nail products (polishes, gels, acrylics, adhesives, etc.) to prevent allergic reactions and ensure quality results.
- Client Consultation: Learning effective communication skills to assess client needs, identify contra-indications, explain procedures, and provide appropriate aftercare advice.
Core Practical Skills
- Manicure and Pedicure: Mastering basic and advanced techniques for natural nail care, including nail shaping, filing, cuticle maintenance, buffing, and application of polish. This often extends to spa manicures/pedicures, callus treatments, and paraffin treatments.
- Nail Enhancements and Extensions: Hands-on training in applying, maintaining (infills/refills), and safely removing artificial nails using various systems:
- Acrylic (liquid and powder): Application techniques, sculpting, and color blending.
- Gel: UV/LED gel applications, hard gel, soft gel, and gel polish techniques.
- Other methods: Fiberglass/silk wraps and dip powder systems.
- Nail Art and Design: Developing creative skills in popular techniques such as:
- French and American manicures.
- Use of glitters, foils, decals, and stones.
- Freehand painting and brush art.
- Ombre, marble, and chrome effects.
- 3D nail art and embellishments.
- Job opportunities: Career paths can also include training, sales, and styling, allowing for specialization or expansion into related beauty fields like cosmetology
