Course Overview:
A Diploma in Hair Stylist is a specialized training program designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge required to become professional hair stylists. This diploma program focuses on various aspects of hair care, styling, cutting, coloring, and treatments.
Course Responsibilities:-
- Hair Care: Shampooing, conditioning, and performing basic Indian head massages.
- Basic Services: Performing basic haircuts and basic blow-drying of hair.
- Color Application: Applying hair color to clients.
- Advanced Assistance: Assisting senior stylists with more advanced hair services.
Salon and Client Support Responsibilities
- Work Area: Preparing and maintaining a clean and organized work area and salon environment.
- Hygiene and Safety: Maintaining health, safety, and hygiene standards in the workplace, including the proper handling and usage of products and tools.
- Client Interaction: Providing a positive impression, and assisting with client needs.
- Product Knowledge: Gaining knowledge about various hair care products and assisting with their sale.
Professional Development Responsibilities
- Learning: Learning fundamental techniques and staying current with industry trends and products.
- Professionalism: Developing good communication skills and maintaining a polite and patient demeanor while working under pressure.
Course Curriculum components:
Foundational Knowledge & Salon Operations
- Introduction to the Beauty and Wellness Industry: Overview of the sector, career paths, and salon environment.
- Health, Safety, and Hygiene: Maintaining a safe and hygienic work area, including sterilization and disinfection methods, waste disposal, and adherence to safety norms to minimize risks (fire, chemical, electrical, etc.).
- Client Consultation and Communication: Techniques for consulting with clients to identify their needs, record-keeping, providing after-care advice, and maintaining professionalism and ethical behavior.
- Salon Management/Employability Skills: Basic computer literacy (ICT), self-management, communication skills, and potentially basic entrepreneurship.
- Product and Equipment Knowledge: Understanding various hair products (shampoos, conditioners, colors, styling products) and correct usage and handling of tools and equipment (scissors, clippers, brushes, hair dryers, etc.).
Practical Hair Services
- Hair and Scalp Anatomy & Analysis: Understanding the structure of hair and scalp conditions and identifying any contraindications to services.
- Shampooing and Conditioning: Proper procedures and massage techniques for shampooing, conditioning, and treating the hair and scalp.
- Basic Hair Cutting: Techniques for performing fundamental haircuts for men and women, including one-length cuts, V/U cuts, and using tools like scissors and clippers.
- Basic Hair Styling: Techniques such as blow-drying (basic and advanced), use of hot tools, braiding, and creating common hairstyles (e.g., plaits, twists).
- Hair Coloring: Basic color theory (color wheel), temporary and semi-permanent color application, highlight/lowlight techniques, patch tests, and monitoring color development.
- Basic Hair Treatments: Deep conditioning treatments, oil therapies, and possibly Indian head massage.
Assisting Duties
A core part of an assistant's role is also learning how to prepare for and assist the main stylist with advanced services (e.g., advanced coloring, chemical treatments like perming or straightening).
The curriculum involves both theoretical sessions and extensive practical, hands-on sessions, often working on clients or dummy heads to build proficiency.
