Course Overview:

         The curriculum covers a wide range of skills, including room service, laundry operations, inventory management, pest control, and the use of cleaning equipment. Graduates can find immediate employment in supervisory roles or as attendants, or they can continue their education for higher-level positions.       

 

 

 

 

Course Responsibilities:-

Room and guest-related duties

  • Clean and tidy guest rooms and bathrooms according to hotel standards.
  • Change bed linens and make beds.
  • Replenish room supplies such as towels, toiletries, and drinking glasses.
  • Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.
  • Empty trash containers and replace liners.
  • Clean and sanitize floors, including vacuuming carpets and mopping hard surfaces.
  • Perform evening or "turn-down" service for guests. 

Public area and facility maintenance

  • Clean and maintain public areas like lobbies, corridors, and stairways.
  • Clean and stock restrooms.
  • Ensure all equipment and supplies are clean, stocked, and organized. 

Guest and team support

  • Respond to guest requests promptly and provide excellent customer service.
  • Collect guest laundry and have it processed.
  • Hand over any lost and found articles to the appropriate supervisor. 

Safety and reporting

  • Follow all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or unusual incidents to management.
  • Secure rooms and follow hotel security guidelines

Importance of housekeeping in the hospitality industry, organizational structure, duties, and responsibilities of staff.

Guestroom Cleaning & Maintenance

Standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cleaning occupied and vacant rooms, bed making, replenishing amenities, and providing turn-down service.

Public Area Cleaning & Upkeep

Maintenance procedures for lobbies, corridors, banquet halls, and recreational areas like pools and spas.

Cleaning Equipment & Agents

Identification, correct usage, and maintenance of various cleaning tools, electric equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers), and chemical agents.

Laundry Operations & Linen Management

Fabric sorting, washing, drying, ironing, stain removal techniques, garment care, and linen inventory control.

Hygiene, Sanitation & Safety

Chemical safety, pest control methods, disinfection protocols, proper waste disposal, fire safety procedures, and occupational health practices.

Interior Decoration & Flower Arrangement

Basic principles of interior decoration, selecting color schemes and furnishings, and arranging flowers for various areas.

Soft Skills & Communication

Customer service, communication skills, time management, teamwork, professional grooming, aPnd handling guest complaints discreetly.

On-the-Job Training/Internship

Mandatory practical experience in a real-world setting (hotel, hospital, or facility) to apply theoretical knowledge and develop industry skills.

Basic Computer Operations

Entry and management of data and records, and basic operations of computer software relevant to housekeeping management.
