Course Overview:
The program covers health and safety protocols, the use of beauty products, maintaining a clean workspace, and professional client communication. It equips learners with the foundational skills to work in a salon environment by assisting professionals, performing core tasks, and handling other salon duties.
Course Responsibilities:-
Core service responsibilities
- Provide basic beauty services: Perform manicures, pedicures, and basic facial and hair removal treatments like waxing and threading.
- Assist with advanced services: Support senior therapists with more complex treatments.
- Apply makeup: Demonstrate and apply makeup to clients.
- Conduct consultations: Discuss client needs and evaluate their beauty requirements.
Client and salon management
- Manage appointments: Accurately schedule and manage client appointments.
- Handle client communication: Explain treatments, answer client questions, and build client relationships.
- Maintain hygiene: Implement strict sterilization procedures and ensure the work area is clean and safe.
- Manage inventory: Track and manage beauty products and supplies.
Other duties
- Salon upkeep: Help with general salon maintenance and other tasks.
- Product knowledge: Upsell and cross-sell products by providing clients with information on their benefits
Course Curriculum components:
Core Beauty Therapy Modules
- Anatomy & Physiology: Basic study of the structure and function of the skin, hair, and nails, as well as relevant muscles and bones of the face, hands, and feet.
- Basic Skin Care Services:
- Skin analysis (identifying skin types and conditions).
- Cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and exfoliation techniques.
- Basic facial procedures, including massage techniques and the use of various masks.
- Bleaching techniques for facial hair.
- Hair Removal (Depilation): Techniques for temporary hair removal, most commonly including threading (facial areas) and waxing (full body - hot, cold, and roll-on methods).
- Nail Care (Manicure & Pedicure): Procedures for basic hand and foot care, including filing, shaping, cuticle work, massage, and nail enamel application.
- Basic Makeup Techniques: Introduction to makeup tools and hygiene, day, evening, and party makeup looks, and corrective makeup principles (e.g., for different face shapes).
- Basic Hair Care & Styling: Scalp and hair analysis, shampooing and conditioning, basic blow-drying, curling, straightening, and simple hair styling techniques like braids and knots.
Health, Safety, and Professional Skills
- Hygiene, Health & Workplace Safety: Essential practices for personal hygiene, sanitation, sterilization, and disinfection of tools and equipment to prevent cross-infection.
- Salon Management & Client Handling:
- Preparing and maintaining the work area.
- Client consultation and record-keeping.
- Interpersonal communication and grooming standards.
- Basic business operations, reception duties, appointment scheduling, and retail product knowledge.
- Product Knowledge: Understanding different types of beauty products, their ingredients, effects, and correct usage and storage.
Practical Training
- The curriculum places a significant emphasis on practical training and hands-on experience, often including practice on peers or clients in a supervised setting.
- Job opportunities: Opportunities include working as an Assistant Beauty Therapist, and upon further specialization, pursuing careers as a beauty therapist, makeup artist, or nail technician
