Course Overview:

              The curriculum covers mechanical and electrical systems of sewing machines, troubleshooting, maintenance, and calibration to ensure optimal performance.

Course Responsibilities:-

• Technical skills: Diagnose and repair various types of sewing machines and related equipment.
• Maintenance: Perform regular preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure efficiency.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and replace faulty parts and components.
• Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities. 

 Course Curriculum components:

• Garment Construction:
  • Basic and advanced sewing techniques
  • Stitching and finishing of various garments like shirts, trousers, and salwar suits
  • Use of different seams, plackets, and necklines
  • Techniques for shaping garments (e.g., darts, tucks, gathering)
• Pattern Making:
  • Flat pattern drafting for various garments such as dresses, blouses, jackets, and trousers
  • Pattern grading
  • Draping techniques on dress forms 

Design and illustration

• Fashion Illustration:
  • Drawing and sketching fashion figures and designs
  • Understanding human anatomy for figure drawing
• Elements and Principles of Design:
  • Study of line, form, color, and texture
  • Color theory, including color schemes, and their visual effects 

Fabric and material knowledge

• Fabric Study:
  • Identification of different fabric types
  • Understanding fabric constructions, dyeing, and printing techniques
  • Stain removal and care 

Computer and technology skills

• Computer Applications in Fashion:
  • Introduction to design software
  • Basic knowledge of e-commerce and computer-aided design (CAD)
• Technical Packs:
  • Creating tech packs, which are essential for manufacturing 

Quality control and business

• Quality Control:
  • Assessing and ensuring the quality of finished garments
  • Preparing quality check charts
• Fashion Merchandising:
  • Understanding market trends, fashion scope, and career prospects
  • Cost sheet preparation
