Course Overview:
A Diploma in Textile Machine Operator is a practical, job-oriented program (or likely a certificate course, as "diploma" often refers to a longer, more comprehensive engineering course) that provides foundational skills in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting machinery used in textile and garment production.
Course Responsibilities:-
Machine operation and setup
- Operate and manage machines for tasks like weaving, knitting, spinning, or finishing.
- Thread yarn, thread, and fabric through the machine's guides, needles, and rollers.
- Feed raw materials and products into the machinery.
- Set equipment controls, program electronic machines, and mount necessary attachments or tools.
Quality control
- Inspect the finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Inspect the machines themselves for potential problems or defects.
- Correct minor issues, such as cutting out defects or removing filling from woven cloth.
- Monitor factors like temperature, tension, and dye flow during operation.
Maintenance and troubleshooting
- Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating machines.
- Replace worn-out parts as needed.
- Diagnose and fix mechanical problems to minimize downtime.
Record keeping and communication
- Keep accurate records of production data, machine settings, and maintenance activities.
- Communicate with supervisors, mechanics, and other team members about machine issues or repair needs
Course Curriculum components:
Theory
- Textile machine principles: Understanding the function and operation of various machines, like looms, knitting, coating, or stenter machines.
- Materials science: Learning about different fibers, yarns, and fabric structures.
- Textile processes: Gaining knowledge of finishing techniques, heat setting, and other processes related to specific machines.
- Health and safety: Studying workplace safety, hazard identification (e.g., physical injuries, fire), and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Quality control: Understanding how to identify fabric faults and their causes.
- Employability skills: Soft skills and best practices for workplace behavior and efficiency.
Practical
- Machine operation: Hands-on experience in operating and monitoring specific machinery, such as knitting, weaving, coating, or stenter machines.
- Machine setup and maintenance: Performing tasks like machine setup, cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance, including replacing parts like needles or feeders.
- Troubleshooting: Simulating and diagnosing common machine problems and identifying their root causes.
- Shift handover: Learning the procedures for taking over and handing over a machine and production shift.
- Quality assessment: Practically applying quality control checks and identifying faults.
- Safety procedures: Implementing safety measures, such as emergency shutdowns and proper waste management.
Job opportunities:
Machine Operator (spinning, weaving, dyeing), Weaving Supervisor, Quality Control Inspector, and Production Assistant. Graduates can also advance to roles like Store Incharge, Production Supervisor, or Merchandiser in both textile mills and garment manufacturing
Features of the Course :
During Training Period, OJT at Hospitals/Industrial/Companies (If applicable courses only)
