Course Overview:
- The diploma in Textile design comes with several skills like learning to analyse a Fabric and visualization with several elements in the Fabric, learning to read a colour palette, learning to match colours to tones, understanding yarns and threads etc.
Course Responsibilities:-
Design and creation
- Create original designs: Develop new patterns, prints, and motifs for various textile applications.
- Use design software: Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create, edit, and prepare digital patterns.
- Select colors and materials: Choose appropriate colors, fabrics, and yarns, often using systems like Pantone, and create color palettes.
- Develop new concepts: Generate new print concepts, colorways, and designs that are ready for production.
Production and quality control
- Work with production teams: Coordinate with manufacturers and technicians to ensure designs are practical for production and meet quality standards.
- Oversee sampling: Produce and manage sample designs for clients or for in-house development.
- Ensure quality: Inspect finished products to ensure consistency and quality match the original design.
Market and trend research
- Research trends: Stay current with emerging trends in fashion, home decor, and other industries.
- Gather inspiration: Visit trade fairs, museums, and exhibitions, and research online to gather inspiration and identify new opportunities.
- Analyze the market: Understand market needs, cost implications, and customer preferences for product development.
Collaboration and communication
- Liaise with other departments: Work with sales, marketing, and other design teams to align on commercial needs and brand identity.
- Communicate with clients: Present design concepts, get feedback, and adapt designs to meet client requirements.
- Build professional networks: Connect with clients, collaborators, and suppliers to stay informed and find new opportunities.

- Design fundamentals: Learn the principles of design, color theory, sketching, and textile illustration.
- Textile materials and construction: Study textile fibers, yarns, and different fabric types through weaving, knitting, and non-woven techniques.
- Dyeing and printing: Master various dyeing processes and fabric printing methods like screen printing, digital printing, and resist dyeing.
- Computer-Aided Design (CAD): Become proficient in using industry-standard software for textile design and pattern development.

- Surface design and embellishment: Focus on creating decorative patterns for textiles through techniques like embroidery and various surface embellishments.
