Course Overview:

     The programs focus on customer service, sales techniques, and store operations, preparing you for careers in the retail industry. These diplomas typically cover topics like merchandising, inventory control, and customer relationship management, with some offering online formats and practical training. 

Course Responsibilities:-

Customer service and sales

  • Greet customers: Welcome and engage shoppers to create a positive atmosphere.
  • Provide product knowledge: Answer questions about products, features, pricing, and promotions to help customers make informed decisions.
  • Assess customer needs: Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable products or services.
  • Process transactions: Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to handle cash, credit card payments, returns, and exchanges accurately.
  • Achieve sales goals: Meet or exceed individual and store sales targets, sometimes using techniques like upselling and cross-selling. 

Store operations and maintenance

  • Maintain cleanliness: Keep the sales floor, fitting rooms, and other store areas clean, tidy, and well-organized.
  • Stock and replenish: Restock shelves, arrange merchandise displays, and ensure products are presented according to visual merchandising standards.
  • Manage inventory: Assist with inventory control, including receiving shipments, conducting stock counts, and reporting low stock or damaged items.
  • Handle security: Support loss prevention efforts by monitoring the sales floor and following security policies. 

Teamwork and administration

  • Collaborate with team members: Work with colleagues to achieve store goals and ensure smooth operations, especially during peak times.
  • Communicate with management: Report customer feedback, issues, and inventory needs to supervisors.
  • Assist with opening/closing: Perform opening and closing duties as required

  • Customer Service Excellence: Principles for delivering distinctive and reliable customer service, including greeting customers, active listening, and providing personalized pre- and post-sales support.
  • Store Operations: Day-to-day management activities, including store opening and closing procedures, store layout, and visual merchandising principles (creating engaging displays, using lighting, etc.).
  • Inventory Management: Techniques for managing stock, including receiving merchandise, stocking shelves, monitoring stock levels, and conducting inventory counts.
  • Point-of-Sale (POS) System Operation: Hands-on training with POS systems, processing various types of payments (cash, credit applications), and handling refunds and returns accurately.
  • Health, Safety, and Security: Understanding and following company policies and legal requirements for maintaining a safe and secure environment, including loss prevention, emergency procedures, and safe handling techniques.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM): Strategies for building and maintaining customer loyalty and managing customer feedback and information.
