Course Overview:
Candidate’s will gain practical experience and expertise in textile selection, design processes, and industry trends. The program equips participants to handle diverse responsibilities in fashion design, marketing, and entrepreneurship. By combining theoretical knowledge with our exclusive Fashion Design kit and industry exposure, graduates will emerge ready to excel in various fashion-related roles, contributing to the industry's innovation and growth.
Course Responsibilities:-
- Trend analysis: Study current and emerging fashion trends to conceptualize designs that will appeal to consumers.
- Conceptualization: Develop a theme for a collection and create mood boards and design storyboards.
- Sketching: Translate concepts into detailed, precise sketches using both traditional methods and computer-aided design (CAD) programs.
- Design development: Create original designs for clothing, accessories, and footwear for various demographics.
Technical and production responsibilities
- Fabric selection: Choose appropriate fabrics, colors, and embellishments for each garment, often by visiting manufacturers or trade shows for samples.
- Pattern making: Draft flat patterns for garments, create patterns from draped designs, and use them to construct prototypes.
- Garment construction: Oversee the sewing and finishing of garments, ensuring proper fit and quality.
- Prototyping: Create initial samples of designs and collaborate with other team members to refine them.
Business and marketing responsibilities
- Presentations: Present design ideas to creative directors or other stakeholders.
- Marketing: Market designs to clothing retailers or consumers through lookbooks, campaigns, and other strategies.
- Market research: Conduct market analysis to inform design decisions and understand consumer behavior.
- Production oversight: Manage the final production of their designs and understand supply chain and inventory management.

Core design and technical skills
- Design principles and illustration: Learning to sketch, draw, and render designs using correct proportions, color theory, and creating mood boards.
- Textile science: Understanding different types of fibers, fabrics, and surface ornamentation techniques like dyeing and printing.
- Pattern making: Drafting, creating, and manipulating patterns from basic blocks to more complex designs.
- Garment construction: Mastering sewing techniques, fitting, and the process of constructing garments from start to finish.
- Draping: Learning to drape fabric on a mannequin to create designs and patterns.
- Sizing and measurements: Understanding how to take accurate body measurements and grade patterns for different sizes.
Business and professional development
- Fashion history and trends: Studying the evolution of fashion and forecasting future trends.
- Business and marketing: Learning about creating a brand, developing a business plan, financing, marketing, and merchandising.
- CAD (Computer-Aided Design): Using specialized software for design, pattern making, and visualization.
